Our Committees

Main Street Crestview is a certified and accredited Main Street Program sanctioned and recognized by the National Trust Main Street Center and the Florida Main Street Program office operating under the Florida Department of State’s Bureau of Historic Preservation.  The organization's three officers (President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer) make up the Executive Committee.  Main Street Crestview operates its overall program under a successful National Trust Main Street Four-Point Approach to downtown revitalization.  The four points include Organization and Membership Development, Promotions, Design, and Economic Restructuring.  Each of the four points is planned and implemented through four separate volunteer committees bearing the same name.

Organization and Membership Development Committee:  This committee gets everyone involved, working toward the same goals.  The committee builds consensus among stakeholders and works towards forming coalitions and partnerships, managing volunteers, attracting money and membership to the organization, promoting the program and its goals, and managing finances and operations.

Promotions Committee: This committee sells the downtown through a variety of ways.  The committee sells the image and promise of downtown by marketing the district's unique characteristics to shoppers, investors, new businesses and visitors.  An effective promotional strategy forges a positive image through advertising, retail promotions, special events and marketing campaigns carried out by local volunteers.  It is important that the Promotions Committee has open communications with the city officials, downtown and area wide businesses and corporations, and civic organizations throughout Crestview.  The Main Street Crestview Association’s events track record, as primary sponsor or as a strong supporting organization assisting with coordination, includes the very successful downtown Triple “B” Festival, Extravaganza Cruise-In and Car Show, Fall Festival, Veterans Day Parade, and Christmas Parade, along with some other occasional special events.

Design Committee: This committee plans and implements goals that get downtown into tip-top physical shape.  Capitalizing on our best assets (historic buildings and our traditional downtown layout including the County Courthouse and City Hall areas), the Design Committee works to create an inviting atmosphere created through window displays, clean and inviting parking areas, good lighting, eye-catching signage (public and business), sidewalks and landscaping that convey a quality visual message about what downtown has to offer.

Economic Restructuring Committee:  This committee strives to find new purpose for downtown's enterprises.  The committee’s basic goals are to find ways to help retain and expand existing businesses, recruits new businesses to respond to changing markets, helps convert unused space into productive properties, and sharpens the competitiveness of business enterprises.  The committee is responsible for developing financial incentives for the downtown area that will help businesses prosper.  Finally the committee gathers economic and market data that will assist other committees in developing projects to bolster downtown.

If you would be interested in volunteering your time and providing your talents for one of the committees above, please print out a membership form from the website and complete the form and return it, so that we may match you with the appropriate chairperson and committee.  Additionally, we can be contacted by calling the Main Street Program office located in the downtown City Hall building at 850-689-3722, extension #230, or click here to e-mail us.
